They have been holding a Day of blessing for the last 60 years!!
In fact it has become a whole week of blessing, where the whole community gets involved.
In 2015 the Mayor of Destin, Mel Ponder, came to the Te Awamutu Day of Blessing. He met with our Mayor, Jim Mylchreest. (below)
The Day of Blessing in Destin, Florida has grown to a week of blessing. It begun 60 years ago with a blessing for the fishing fleet. Over the years the sailors began to realise that their accident rate was going down and their catch rate was going up.They literally line up their fleets now at the wharf to get the blessing. 100's of them.
